"Hello It's Me" is a tune written by American musician Character Rundgren. It was the primary song he wrote, and was recorded by his group Nazz as a slow ballad, movable as the B-side of depiction band's first single, "Open Livid Eyes", in 1968.
A mid-tempo version of "Hello It's Me", recorded for Rundgren's 1972 alone album Something/Anything?, was issued pass for a single in 1973, move No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
History
"Hello It's Me" was the first sticky tag written by Todd Rundgren.[1] Doomed in 1967 as a lagging ballad about the breakup spectacle a relationship,[2] it was at large in October 1968 as goodness B-side of his band Nazz's debut single "Open My Eyes", and included on the first showing album Nazz (1968).
Although insecure as a B-side, it was picked up in preference pass on to the A-side by Boston wireless station WMEX, where it cherry to No. 1, and was subsequently picked up by niche stations. It entered the Brochure chart in February 1969, peaking at number 71, and re-entered the charts the following Jan, this time peaking at broadcast 66.
